JOB DESCRIPTION – FEDERAL PROJECTS DIRECTOR

QUALIFICATIONS:

AA Certification in Administration; At least 5 years experience as an administrator  

REPORTS TO AND SUPERVISED BY:

Superintendent. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY:

Terms of employment and salary will be recommended by the superintendent and established by the school board.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Federal Projects Director expected to work in cooperation with the superintendent as well as other administrators and staff in the East Tallahatchie School District.
  • Federal Projects Director s expected to follow the chain of command. 
  • Federal Projects Director is expected to maintain a positive attitude.
  • The Federal Projects Director expected to keep confidential conversations and issues confidential.
  • Federal Projects Director is expected to have good people skills in dealing with fellow workers. If conflict develops, the Federal Projects Director is expected to try and resolve the conflict as quickly as possible.
  • Federal Projects Director is expected to work with the principal of each campus.  Federal Projects Director is expected to present Federal Projects Program updates and a proposed budget to the superintendent.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attends Board meetings and prepares such reports for the Board as the superintendent may request.
  • Studies all federal legislation, projects, and programs for the possibilities and opportunities they offer for educational grants, entitlements, and allocations offered relevant to the needs of students and staff within the school district.
  • Informs, interprets, and recommends to the Superintendent the effects of current and impending federal legislation and state regulation and prepares reports for the Superintendent as may be needed to keep the Board abreast of federal and state trends.
  • Assists the Superintendent and appropriate professional staff in planning for the effective and efficient use of funds available to the schools through various federal programs.
  • Obtains information, data, and application forms necessary to fulfill the requirements of application for funds necessary to the development of educational programs and opportunities within the district.
  • Considers and evaluates all requests from school personnel for projects and programs requiring federal funds.
  • Attends state/national meetings to keep abreast of federal guidelines.
  • Assumes full responsibility for writing all proposals and filing all applications in a timely manner to meet all state and/or federal timelines for all Federal and Title Programs.
  • Complies and maintains necessary written records and all other such data as may be required, and prepares all reports required for evaluating use of federal funds and determining their effectiveness in meeting stated district goals.
  • Remains at all times up-to-date on changing laws and requirements at the federal and state level as they affect the management and operation of the district.

HOUSING

The Federal Projects Director will have an office at the District Office.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Federal Projects Director is expected to attend Administrator’s Training provided by the Superintendent.

The Federal Projects Director is expected to work in cooperation with the District Administrative Staff in planning and directing professional development and curriculum for the District.

The Federal Projects Director is expected to attend state/national meetings to stay updated on federal regulations for compliance.

OTHER

Any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent

EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Superintendent according to the School Board approved evaluation instrument for the Federal Projects Director.

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION –CURRICULUM DIRECTOR/ PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

AA Administration; three (3) years teaching experience;   previous administrative experience

REPORTS TO AND SUPERVISED BY:

Superintendent. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY:

Terms of employment and salary will be recommended by the superintendent and established by the school board.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Professional Development/Curriculum Director is expected to work in cooperation with the superintendent as well as other administrators and staff in the East Tallahatchie School District.
  • Professional Development/Curriculum Director is expected to follow the chain of command.
  • Professional Development/Curriculum Director is expected to maintain a positive attitude.
  • The Professional Development/Curriculum Director is expected to keep confidential conversations and issues confidential.
  • Professional Development/Curriculum Director is expected to have good people skills in dealing with fellow workers. If conflict develops between the Professional Development/Curriculum Director and another staff member, the Professional Development/Curriculum Director is expected to try and resolve the conflict as quickly as possible.
  • Professional Development/Curriculum Director is expected to work with the Federal Programs Director and the principal of each campus to establish high quality professional development experiences for the staff.
  • Professional Development/Curriculum Director is expected to present superintendent with an annual evaluation of the entire Professional Development Program, along with goals and suggestions for the next school year.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Professional Development Director

  • Establishes goals and objectives for training programs and projects.
  • Plans, organizes, and implements in-service projects and training,
  • Meets regularly with administrators and teachers to establish future goals and identify specific training needs of the district's personnel,
  • Coordinates the establishment of procedures, timetables, preparation of necessary forms and letters, assignment of workshop sites, and all other practical elements of in-ser­vice training.
  • Plans, organizes, and implements district-wide programs for training teacher aides and other paraprofessionals
  • Evaluates all in-service and pre-service training programs in the district.
  • Prepares and administers the program budget.

Curriculum Director:

  • Guides development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional services.
  • Assists in the development and coordination of the sections of the budget that pertain to curriculum and instruction.
  • Prepares and works with administrators and staff on school improvement plans.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in curriculum and instruction, and furnishes leadership in determining their appropriateness for inclusion in the district educational program.
  • Guides development, implementation/ and evaluation of pre-service and in-service training programs for professional personnel.
  • Communicates the approved curriculum to the professional staff and maintains a list of approved in­structional materials.
  • Works with principals and teacher committees in organizing and coordinating grade level and depart­mental meetings, in order to effect horizontal and vertical continuity and articulation of the instructional program throughout the district.
  • Maintains a current curriculum manual to show graduation requirements, approved courses, credit allowed, and any pertinent information useful to students and staff.
  • Observes teachers in their classrooms upon request of principals, and offers insights for the enhancement of the teaching-learning situation.
  • Works with the office of certification and staff in assisting with staff licensure.
  • Assumes responsibility for reviewing and evaluating results of district-wide testing programs, and for other evaluative measures used by the schools.
  • Studies and evaluates, and, as appropriate, recommends adoption of new instructional materials, meth­ods, and programs, and assists in budget preparation for newly approved instructional programs as related to instructional supplies, equipment, and materials.
  • Works with administrators and staff on the Student Progress Monitoring System.

The Professional Development/Curriculum Coordinator will have an office at the District Office.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Professional Development/Curriculum Director is expected to attend Administrator’s Training provided by the Superintendent.

The Professional Development/Curriculum Director is expected to work in cooperation with the District Administrative Staff in planning and directing professional development and curriculum for the District.

With approval from the Superintendent, attend state required trainings and conferences. 

OTHER

Any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Superintendent according to the School Board approved evaluation instrument for the Professional Development and Curriculum Director.
